wenger after win at wales   Leave a comment

Dear Arsenal supporter,
As you may know I am about to reach
my 17th anniversary as Arsenal’s
manager but I have to say that the
three points at Swansea on Saturday
was better than any cake!
The first half was quite difficult
because Swansea were sharper than
us and were stronger in the duels. We
lacked purpose but after the break
we were much more compact and
looked dangerous every time we won
the ball.
We are seeing a clinical Arsenal at the
moment and, although we had to hang
on a little bit in the last 15 minutes, I
felt we deserved to win the game.
Why are we more clinical? Partly it is
because we have added Mesut Ozil to
our squad and he can give a good ball
in the final third, but also our young
players are improving naturally in
that aspect of their games.
Aaron Ramsey is one of those young
players and he scored yet again – his
eighth of the season. I honestly
couldn’t have predicted that.
The only thing I can say is that he was
always in good positions in the box in
the past and now he doesn’t rush his
decisions. For his goal at Swansea he
needed a good touch, he needed to go
past a player and then finish quickly.
Before he used to rush but now he is
more confident.
I would love to see him continue
scoring at this rate but goals come in
cycles so you have to accept that he
won’t score 38 times. All the same it’s
good that we have midfield players
who can contribute in that way.
Serge Gnabry scored his first senior
goal for the Club – incredibly he was
aged one when I came to Arsenal!
Serge has the talent and the
personality on the pitch as well. He
doesn’t look timid, he looks to play
with belief and of course show his
talent.
I was surprised that some of the big
teams lost at the weekend and that
can add pressure because you know
you will feel guilty if you have an
opportunity to solidify your position
and you don’t take it.
It’s the sign of a good team during the
season to grab those chances when
you can. Now we are top but it is very
early and we cannot get ahead of
ourselves.
Before we return to the Premier
League next weekend we have a very
important Champions League game
against a strong Napoli side. So let’s
focus on that and make sure we get
the right result.
Thanks for your support.
