Westham vs Arsenal *preview* london derby   1 comment

The Irons have
only won one out of their last five
Premier League games and have
struggled to score goals.
The Hammers were expected to claim
a victory against bottom of the table
Sunderland in their last Premier
League outing, but could only manage
a goalless draw against their fellow
strugglers.
The Gunners also drew their last
outing 0-0 with Chelsea at the
Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
The result took Arsenal to second in
the Premier League, behind league
leaders only on goal difference.
The draw made it four games without a
win for the Gunners in all
competitions, the side from north
London drawing two and losing one of
the top-flight games and losing at
Napoli in the Champions League.
However, with leaders Liverpool
facing a tough trip to Manchester City
in the late kick-off, the Gunners could
regain top spot with a victory against
the Hammers.
Arsene Wenger’s men will also be
encouraged by their record against
the Hammers at Boleyn Ground in
recent years, the Gunners having won
on five of their last six visits to the
East End. Arsenal have also won the
last five games against the Hammers
in all competitions.
West Ham have lost eight and won
none of their last 10 Premier
League games against Arsenal.
Theo Walcott has scored in his last
three Barclays Premier League
appearances against West Ham.
This is Arsenal’s 100th London
derby away from home in the
Premier League and the Gunners
have won 44 out of 99; more
victories on the road than any other
team in capital clashes.

Aaron Ramsey believes Arsenal can
send a message to the rest of the
Premier League by winning at
Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gunners are five points clear at
the top of the table, and confidence is
high after successive victories over
Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
Ramsey insists Arsène Wenger’s side
will head to Old Trafford with no fear
and believes they will underline their
title credentials
United have
won eight of the last nine meetings at
Old Trafford, so an Arsenal victory
here – not achieved since 2006 –
could really cause a lasting shift in
momentum. Whatever the score expect
plenty of end-to-end attacking.

dortmund vs Arsenal   Leave a comment

Arsenal silence a quarter of their critic last saturday as they beat second place Liverpool 2-0 at the emirate. Among the yet to be won over is the Match of the Day pundit and former Premier League winner
has rubbished claims that the
Gunners can win the league,
stating that they haven’t played
one of the ‘big 3’ yet.
Dortmund face Arsenal this week in
what will be the second of their two
Champions League group stage
encounters, having emerged
victorious at the Emirates Stadium a
fortnight ago.
Klopp’s side did not have it all their
own way in London, with Arsenal
enjoying plenty of the ball and
creating numerous chances. However,
Dortmund’s high-intensity and
strength in transitions won through,
earning a 2-1 victory.
Arsenal will go into the intimidating
Westfalen Stadion confident they can
regain control of their Champions
League group.
Arsene Wenger’s team looked to be
cruising towards qualification for the
knockout round going into the home
clash with Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are in terrific form coming
in to this game on a back of a 6-1
drubbing of Stuttgart in the German
Bundesliga and Jurgen Klopp will look
to make the home advantage count
against a solid Arsenal side.
Arsenal have been a bit unpredictable
in their last couple games but will go
into this game with renewed
confidence after beating a strong
Liverpool side 2-0 in the League on
the back of defeats to Chelsea and
Dortmund at home in Cup competitions.
The lack of options in various areas
of the pitch for Arsene Wenger though
will be a huge concern for the
Gunners’ management going into this
midweek game.

BATTLE OF NORTH LONDON: ARSENAL VS TOTTENHAM *preview*   Leave a comment

Tottenham Hotspur have consistently challenge the domination of north London by their arch rivals Arsenal. Arsenal Qualified For The Sixteenth Time to the champions league group stage edgeing out fenerbahce over two legs.
Tottenham’s summer transfer activities and few additions at
the Emirates has seen a lot of criticism for wenger who many see as being stingy with fund
Arsenal had a fantastic end to last
season and subsequently
qualify for the Champions League at the expense of their rival and finally making it through to
the group stages.
Tottenham have made some wonderful signings and clearly they are on the look out for more players to strengthen their
squad in preparation for Gareth Bale’s departure, which
appears to be almost sealed. After all the totts may well have around £90m to reinvest in their already big squad if the move to spain actually materialise.
Saldado a £26m capture from
Valencia – already standing out as
one to watch this season will be thrilled with his first london derby against there neighbour.
Either of the north London clubs may not be challenging for the
title this season as Chelsea and the
two Manchester clubs look to be even more prepared than last year but the two teams will give their best and maybe they could spring surprises.
Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa was a wake up call to the club as they have responded well in the subsequent games with good wins. The
defeat of Fulham in
the next Premier League game was,
however encouraging and lifted the souls of manager and players alike with the fans and supporters not left out.
Arsenal have a side
full of quality bar injuries to some key players: Olivier Giroud already has three
goals in his first three games with an average of a goal per match if he can keep this up he may score about thirty league goals this season.
Aaron Ramsey has picked up where he stopped last season and could still be the most
improved player this season: his impressive performances already
this season may well prove priceless
to Arsene Wenger. Aaron who was highly criticized in the early part of last season largely due to being played out of position got three goals in the play offs and would hope for more as the season drags on.
London derby involving the two sides have been filled with goals recently and this sunday encounter is expected to be full of goals as well.
Flamini would kick start his second spell at the club in this match and will want to prove a lot of his critics wrong that he still got some football in his legs and will want to work hard to see the pendulum of victory swing the way of the home team

fenerbahce vs arsenal   Leave a comment

Arsene wenger’s men will be travelling to turkey after the shocking loss to Aston villa in the premier league curtain raiser at the emirate on saturday.
Fenerbahce SK will be looking to end
Arsenal FC’s long run of seasons in
the UEFA Champions League when the
sides meet in the first leg of their
play-off in Istanbul:
1997/98 campaign was the last
time Arsenal did not feature in
Europe’s elite club competition but to
secure a 16th consecutive campaign,
they must get past a side
fresh from a 4-2 aggregate triumph
over FC Salzburg in the third
qualifying round.

• Arsenal were 5-2 winners when
they last visited the Sükrü Saraçoglu
Stadium in the 2008/09 UEFA
Champions League group stage – a
result that ended Fenerbahçe’s 15-
match unbeaten home run in Europe.
• Luis Aragonés’s Fenerbahçe
restored some pride in the return
fixture a fortnight later by earning a
goalless draw.
• Arsenal also got the better of a
Fenerbahçe team coached by Ersoy
Sükrü in the first round of the
1979/80 European Cup Winners’ Cup.
Terry Neill’s side – who went on to
reach the final – won 2-0 at home
through Alan Sunderland (30) and
Willie Young (87) before a goalless
draw in Istanbul.
Match background
• League runners-up in Turkey last
term, Fenerbahçe are bidding to
return to the group stage for the first
time since that 2008/09 campaign.
They missed out on a sixth
appearance 12 months ago, suffering
a play-off defeat by FC Spartak
Moskva, but instead reached their
first ever European semi-final in the
UEFA Europa League before losing to
SL Benfica.
• In seven home games in last
season’s UEFA Europa League,
Fenerbahçe posted four wins, two
draws and just one defeat.
• Fenerbahçe came up against
Premier League opposition in the
2007/08 UEFA Champions League
quarter-finals, beating Chelsea FC
2-1 at home but losing 2-0 in the
second leg in London. Their overall
home record against English sides is
W3 D1 L3.
• Fenerbahçe’s only two-legged win
against an English team was a 2-1
aggregate success against
Manchester City FC in the 1968/69
European Champion Clubs’ Cup first
round.
• Fourth in the English Premier
League last term, Arsenal have a
100% record in UEFA Champions
League qualifiers, winning both legs
as they overcame each of NK Dinamo
Zagreb (2006/07, agg 5-1), AC Sparta
Praha (2007/08, agg 5-0), FC Twente
(2008/09, agg 6-0), Celtic FC (2009/10,
agg 5-1) and Udinese Calcio (2011/12,
agg 3-1).
All eyes will be on arsenal as to who and who will be selected to play as we are short in all departments apart from attack and goal keeping.
Will a thin Arsenal squad get a win over fenerbahce only time will tell.
