wengers comment on saturday win   Leave a comment

We experienced two different halves
on Sunday – we were fluent in the
first half but we looked jaded
physically after the break.
Once again we showed that we can dig
deep and fight when we are under
pressure. Ultimately, it was a good
end to a very positive week because
we won in Sunderland and Marseille
as well.
When you play against Stoke you don’t
expect to score three goals from set-
pieces and that was the biggest
surprise to me on Sunday.
It shows how important the delivery is
and Mesut Ozil can provide that. When
you look at his numbers, the assists
are not a coincidence, it’s just the
reality of his game. I believe that once
he is completely integrated we’ll see
even more from him.
Mesut’s excellent start to his Arsenal
career demonstrates that football is
football, wherever you play. When you
have the ball, you make a good pass
or a bad pass. The good players make
a good pass and the bad players make
a bad pass. Is it in Spain or England?
It doesn’t matter.
Mesut gave a lift to everybody at the
Club but, as for whether we can
challenge for honours, that will come
down to the quality of our teamwork
and our play. We are playing well at
the moment so let’s keep doing that.
We have a Capital One Cup game at
West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday
and I will rotate the team, of course.
Nicklas Bendtner has a chance to be
involved but Jack Wilshere will not
play. Normally I would have rested him
on Sunday and I decided to take him
off because he was a bit exhausted
towards the end.
Rotating the squad is important
because we play again on Saturday
and after that we have a massive
home game in the Champions League.
We will need everyone to play their
part.

BATTLE OF NORTH LONDON: ARSENAL VS TOTTENHAM *preview*   Leave a comment

Tottenham Hotspur have consistently challenge the domination of north London by their arch rivals Arsenal. Arsenal Qualified For The Sixteenth Time to the champions league group stage edgeing out fenerbahce over two legs.
Tottenham’s summer transfer activities and few additions at
the Emirates has seen a lot of criticism for wenger who many see as being stingy with fund
Arsenal had a fantastic end to last
season and subsequently
qualify for the Champions League at the expense of their rival and finally making it through to
the group stages.
Tottenham have made some wonderful signings and clearly they are on the look out for more players to strengthen their
squad in preparation for Gareth Bale’s departure, which
appears to be almost sealed. After all the totts may well have around £90m to reinvest in their already big squad if the move to spain actually materialise.
Saldado a £26m capture from
Valencia – already standing out as
one to watch this season will be thrilled with his first london derby against there neighbour.
Either of the north London clubs may not be challenging for the
title this season as Chelsea and the
two Manchester clubs look to be even more prepared than last year but the two teams will give their best and maybe they could spring surprises.
Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa was a wake up call to the club as they have responded well in the subsequent games with good wins. The
defeat of Fulham in
the next Premier League game was,
however encouraging and lifted the souls of manager and players alike with the fans and supporters not left out.
Arsenal have a side
full of quality bar injuries to some key players: Olivier Giroud already has three
goals in his first three games with an average of a goal per match if he can keep this up he may score about thirty league goals this season.
Aaron Ramsey has picked up where he stopped last season and could still be the most
improved player this season: his impressive performances already
this season may well prove priceless
to Arsene Wenger. Aaron who was highly criticized in the early part of last season largely due to being played out of position got three goals in the play offs and would hope for more as the season drags on.
London derby involving the two sides have been filled with goals recently and this sunday encounter is expected to be full of goals as well.
Flamini would kick start his second spell at the club in this match and will want to prove a lot of his critics wrong that he still got some football in his legs and will want to work hard to see the pendulum of victory swing the way of the home team

arsenal vs fenerbahce   Leave a comment

Arsenal got their first win in the 2013/2014 premier league season with a 3-1 win at fellow londoner fulham after the disappointing loss to Aston villa on league opening day.
England and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is
expected to start against Fenerbahce after starting on the bench at craven cottage on saturday.
The Gunners look to clinch their place
in the Champions League group
stages after a resounding win in Turkey last week.
Defender Laurent Koscielny is also
available again after being suspended
for the game against the Cottagers and after recovering from the injury sustained in turkey.
Following last week’s 3-0 win in the
first leg in Istanbul, the Gunners are
in control of their tie.
Centre-back Thomas Vermaelen (back)
and midfielders Abou Diaby (knee),
Mikel Arteta (thigh) and Alex Oxlade-
Chamberlain (knee) are all definitely
out of the Emirates clash.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has
come in for criticism this season after
making just one summer signing so far
and losing 3-1 to Aston Villa on the
opening day.
And the Frenchman realises how
crucial the Fenerbahce tie is.
“It’s a very, very important tie for us,
because we want to be in the group
stage the next day,” Wenger said.
“I have big experience in the
Champions League – I have over 150
games – and I know if you want to
knock somebody out you need attitude
and commitment or you don’t do it.
That is what is at stake for us.
“That demands attitude and
commitment and desire to play the
game with full power, like we love to
do it.
“We had two good games recently, at
Fenerbahce and against Fulham, and
we want just to continue that run,
going into the game to win the game
without thinking about the result of
the first game.
“The Champions League is a fight.
Everybody wants to give his best. We
want to finish the job tomorrow. We
have a decent advantage, but we want
to get over the line.”
Right-back Carl Jenkinson, who is
hoping to keep his place in the team
that beat Fulham, says confidence in
the camp has grown in the days and
weeks since losing to Villa.
“After the first game everyone was
down and I think it was important we
responded quickly,” Jenkinson said.
“We did that against Fenerbahce and
the last couple of games have given
everyone that extra confidence that
you need and hopefully we can go on
a good strong run now.
“We need to be playing at the pinnacle
of football and that is the Champions
League. If you want to improve and
test yourself against the best players
in the world, you have to be playing in
the Champions League.
“It’s vitally important we go out there
and finish the job.”
Even if the Gunners did lose by three
goals or more, they could stay in the
tournament – subject to a Court of
Arbitration in Sport decision on
Wednesday.
The Turkish side were banned for
two years from European
competition in June over match-
fixing allegations but were
reinstated while an appeal is
heard, the result of which will be
declared the day after the match.
All the best!!!

wenger: ‘it has been a good week for us’   Leave a comment

Wenger: ‘It has been a good week for
us’
Dear Arsenal supporter,
It has been a good week for us since
the disappointment of losing our
opening game of the season.
We played a tough game against
Fenerbache and put in another good
performance at Fulham. We played in
the manner we wanted to play and we
created lots of chances. At the start
of the game Wojciech Szczesny made
a great save but after that we were
always in control.
It’s always hard to tell how your
players will respond to an intense
game in the Champions League but
perhaps the positive outcome in
Turkey gave us a mental lift which
overshadowed any fatigue.
We adapted our style of play for
Fulham but we were very dangerous
every time we won the ball back. It
was impressive because we had a
good mixture of patience and speed in
our game and that was positive.
I changed the shape of our team
because I rested Jack Wilshere. We
played with four defenders and six
offensive players so we had to make
it tighter with numbers but of course
when we had the ball we were always
a threat.
Lukas Podolski got his chance and he
took it well with two goals. I am
pleased for him because he hasn’t
started much recently, not because of
his form but because of the need to
balance the team. But as you saw he
plays with spirit and he can score
goals. If you look at his and Giroud’s
goalscoring record it’s very good.
As for Olivier, his second season is
always better than his first one.
Technically he is quite impressive and
his physical presence up front is very
important to us. He looks like he’s
much more confident than last year.
Another player who has impressed is
Aaron Ramsey and I’m happy for him.
During the transfer period, people are
so focused on who is coming in that
they forget how good our players are.
When it comes to giving British
players a chance, we had Jenkinson,
Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere and Gibbs –
plus Oxlade-Chamberlain when he is
available. I think we deserve credit
for that.
Ramsey is still a young player and he
was under scrutiny a year ago. People
had major doubts about him but I think
he deserves huge praise for moving
forward the way he did. We deserve
some as well because we continued to
develop him and believe in him.
We face Fenerbahce again on Tuesday
and it’s important for us to finish the
job and get the focus right. We have
taken a big step but we’re not over
the line. The group stage of the
Champions League is highly-important
so I will not rest players, certainly
not.
Thanks for your support,

Montpellier vs Arsenal- preview   Leave a comment

Montpellier will make their champions league debut against Arsenal on tuesday. They occupy 14th place in ligue 1 after loosing at promoted stade de Reims 3- 1.
The gunners on the other hand had their second win of the season after a soul lifting win against southampton. The game ended 6-1 in favour of the emirate team.
Montpellier former man and Arsenal started on the bench and will be waiting eagerly for this fixture. See how time flies, last season he was their top player but now he will be playing against them.
Montpellier will not be so impressed with this fixture coming up at a time in which they are out of form.
This game is a french game despite the fact that Arsenal is from England. Arsene Wenger is a frenchman and a couple of Arsenal players are either french or speak french.
Olivier Giroud is expected to lead the line against his former team while Mannone Vito may be in goal considering the howler of Sczceny against the saint. Abou Diaby may return to the starting line up while Andre Santos may get the nod ahead of Kieran Gibbs to give him a breather. Laurent Koscienly may partner the captain Thomas at centre back. Andrei Arshavin may be involved any time in the game especially as a substitute. Wishing the emirate faithful an harvest of goals.
Happy sunday to you all

Carzola, podolski scores. Diaby did well   Leave a comment

Liverpool were dumpfounded this afternoon as they lost 2-0 to arsenal who were yet to score a goal prior to the match.
New recruits lukas podolski and santi carzola stun liverpool in the flesh with a goal in each half respectively as arsenal got their first win of the season.
Webb did well today especially in the way he handled the shouts for penalty by liverpool; some other time he may have given the penalties and change the course of the game.
The game would have left wenger had arsenal lost or drew but thanks to the team spirit and the hunger to pick the 3 point at stake.
Giroud needs to keep his calm and try not to do things as RVP in his quest to be in good books of arsenal supporters. 3 games without a goal could be disturbing but he needs to keep his calm and the goals will surely come.
