By Karthik (@thinktankkv)

When Sergio Ramos brought down Yannick Ferreira Carrasco in the Champions League final this year to put an end to a promising Atletico Madrid counter attack, a lot must have been going through his head. Carrasco was playing out of his skin trying to get Atletico back into the game and with two deft touches he managed to motor past Modric and Casemiro to leave Real Madrid’s defense in total disarray. Things looked good for Atletico at that instant; Carrasco had only one defender separating him from the goal and two of his teammates were quick to flank him on either side to create a numerical advantage. Ramos surveyed the situation and in a matter of seconds came up with solutions and assessed the risk involved in all possible courses of action. He could track back as fast as possible banking on Atletico to commit…

Developer of Ikeja City Mall and $1 Billion extortion attempt of Donald Trump   Leave a comment

Developer of Ikeja City Mall, Michael ChudiEjekam in the news again on suspicion of fraud and $1 Billion extortion attempt of Donald Trump

Michael ChudiEjekam is once again the focus of a fraud investigation. Ejekam has now been linked to former basketball star Tate George’s real estate ponzi fraud scheme for which Tate George has been sentenced to a 9 year prison term. While employed by Bayrock, Ejekam partnered with Tate on several real estate deals. George and Ejekam used Donald Trumps name to entice investors into investing in their fraudulent ponzi scheme.

Bayrock Group, Ejekam’s former employer is a successful real estate development company, with several high-profile partnership projects with Donald Trump. Bayrock has been at the heart of several scandals relating to their top executives. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/trump-pal-busted-allegedly-running-hooker-ring-yacht-article-1.191136

Ejekam with his partner and college roommate Jody Kriss, a former CFO of Bayrock have been involved in a $1 billion extortion scheme against the Bayrock Group, Donald and Ivanka Trump, and several other high-profile individuals, law firms (including Kriss’ father Ronald Kriss’ law firm AkermanSenterfitt, from which Kriss senior was fired right after the lawsuit was filed) and major real estate companies. Ejekam’s lawyers in that extortion case—Richard Lerner & Frederick Oberlander—were referred for criminal prosecution twice in that case for unethical and illegal practices of the law, by United States Federal Judge Brian M. Cogan. The United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York is currently investigating the criminal referral.

Ejekam and Kriss’ questionable business practices are not limited to real estate fraud. Kriss’ has been accused of having connections to the Persico Mafia crime family and is accused of trying to have a former business associate murdered.http://nypost.com/2014/03/16/mob-rat-says-business-partner-tried-to-nail-him-over-2-5m-suit/

There have also been allegations of money laundering for Russian mafia kingpins. http://georgiatoday.ge/news/165/Jody-Kriss-%E2%80%93-Victim-Or-Gangster%3F

Kriss and Ejekam’s close relationship began long before they worked together at Bayrock—starting when they were both in the same class at the University of Pennsylvania, and lived in the same dorm.

Ejekam is rumored to have fled New York to distance himself from all the illegal activities and lawsuits. He was recently fired from the private equity firm, Actis, as Director of Real Estate for West Africa, when his past became know to the firm. Actis developed the largest mall in Nigeria and has extensive investments throughout Africa.

Quote: 5) Lionel Robbins – definition of economics   Leave a comment

The visible hand in economics

Lionel Robbins (*):

Economics is a science which studies human behavior as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses

This is the fundamental definition of economics that I adher to when I write here. In all honesty this is not the sole definition of what people “see” economics as – however, it THE definition of what I would term “economic science”.

This definition fits neatly with the theoretical and applied versions of micoeconomics – however, without appropriate “microfoundations” it is hard to decide whether marcroeconomics sticks to this definition of what economics is – is macroeconomics raising the TRUE trade-off between scarce resources in the entire economy?

Ultimately, Milton Friedman felt we make macroeconomics consistent with this view (and useful) bu focusing on predictive accuracy – like many economic models, this made sense once you converged to your result, but not out of equilibrium…

Calum Chambers: Did He Deserve the August Player of the Month Award?   Leave a comment

Gooner Daily

chambers Chambers had two clean sheets in the Champions League

When Arsenal signed a relatively young and inexperienced defender for a whooping 16 million pounds, few thought that was another over-hyped English lad but many were also aware of his massive potential and just the tender age of 19, he has been thrust into the action of Premier League and Champions League football for Arsenal. To make things a whole lot sweeter, his versatility has ensured that he has been used in two different playing positions this season, and the manager still harbors hopes of playing him in a third position further up field.

After a good preseason preparation, Calum Chambers played alongside Laurent Koscielny in the FA Community Shield against Manchester City and he was part of the defense that kept a clean sheet as the Gunners ran out as 3-0 winners. With Per Mertesacker given an extended break from…

Newcastle vs Arsenal Preview   Leave a comment

Newcastle United welcome Premier
League leaders Arsenal at St. James’
Park in a fixture which has always
been a visual delight for fans and
neutrals alike.
Newcastle United took Stoke City to
the cleaners during mid-week as the
Magpies ran the score up 5-1 against
the nine-man Potters.
With Arsenal coming to the far North,
the home side will look at this as their
chance to yet again show their ability
to knock off the biggest and best of
the league so far this season and are
eying a place in the top four.
Newcastle XI: Krul; Debuchy,
Williamson, Coloccini, Santon;
Tiote, Sissoko; Ben Arfa, Cabaye,
Gouffran; Remy.
Arsenal XI: Szczesny; Sagna,
Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs;
Whilshere, Arteta; Walcott, Ozil,
Podolski; Giroud.
The last match between the two teams
was played on the final day of the
2012-13 season, with the Gunners
picking up a well deserved (and rather
crucial) 1-0 win to ensure their place
in the UEFA Champions League for a
record 16th season running under
Arsene Wenger. The game at the
Emirates earlier in the same season
was one of the highest scoring
encounters of all-time, with Arsenal
utterly dominant and ending up as 7-3
winners.
